Aftercare & Healing

How do I take care of my brows after the appointment?

First few days: Gently cleanse with cool water, pat dry, apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare balm as instructed.

Avoid touching, picking, heavy sweating, steam/sauna, swimming, and makeup on the brow area for 10–14 days.

Never pick or scratch scabs.

Once healed, apply SPF to protect pigment longevity.

What does the healing process like?

Days 1–3: Brows appear darker, possibly swollen, this is normal.

Days 5–10: Scabbing and flaking begin; colour may shift and appear lighter, this is part of healing.

Weeks 2–4: Brows soften and settle into their healed tone.

Full healing can take up to 6–8 weeks.

Will my brows look too dark at first?

Yes, and that’s completely normal. The colour will appear darker for the first few days, then naturally soften and lighten by 20–40% during healing.

How long will my new brows last?

Most clients enjoy results for 1–3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure. Oily skin types may fade faster and benefit from Powder Ombré or more frequent touch-ups.

Why is a touch-up so important?

A 6-week touch-up ensures even colour, fills in any gaps, and helps your brows last longer. Think of it as perfecting your investment.

Can I wear makeup after my appointment?

Not on your brows for 10 days. You can wear makeup elsewhere on your face.

General Brow Service Questions

What’s the difference between Microblading, Powder Ombré, and Combination Brows?

Microblading: Creates realistic, hair-like strokes for a soft, natural look. Ideal for normal to dry skin.

Powder Ombré Brows: Gives a softly shaded, makeup-like finish. Perfect for oily or sensitive skin and longer-lasting results.

Combination Brows: A blend of both techniques; hair strokes in the front, soft shading in the rest for natural definition with extra fullness.

Will my brows look natural?

Yes, every brow is customized to suit your facial features and style. While they may look bold at first, they soften as they heal.

How do you match the colour to my natural brows and skin tone?

I custom-blend each pigment to perfectly complement your natural brow colour, hair colour, and skin tone. I use only the highest-quality pigments from Tina Davies Professional and Perma Blend, they’re vegan, plant-based, and water-based.

These premium inks are specially formulated so they won’t turn unexpected colours over time. Instead, they naturally fade into a softer, lighter version of your original shade, keeping your brows looking natural and beautiful for years to come.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes. I am a four-time certified Calgary brow cosmetic tattoo artist, insured, and trained in Bloodborne Pathogens & Barbicide Safety. All tools are single-use and sterile.

Does brow tattooing hurt?

Pain is minimal or absent for most clients. I apply a medical-grade numbing cream before and during the procedure so you’re comfortable from start to finish.

How should I prepare for my brow appointment?

To get the best results:

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for 24 hours before.
  • No Botox, chemical peels, or laser treatments for 2–4 weeks before.
  • Come with clean skin and no brow or eye makeup.
  • Avoid sun tanning or any excessive sun exposure (like sun burns) before your session.
Can I get my brows done if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Cosmetic tattooing is not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding.

What if I already have brow tattoos?

I’ll need to see your current brows before booking. Some can be refreshed or corrected, while others may require laser removal before new work. Please ensure you mention to me before booking your appointment.

Do you fix brows done by other artists?

Yes, if possible. Some work can be corrected, others need partial or full laser removal before we start fresh. Book a free consultation with me, and I can help assess the best path forward for you.

Who is an ideal candidate for brow tattooing?

Anyone looking to enhance brows, whether they’re thinning, sparse, uneven, or styling-conscious. Powder Ombré suits oily/mature skin; Combination Brows give texture and shading; Camouflage & Colour Correction refreshes old tattoos.

Unsure of which technique is right for you? Book a free consultation and let me help you choose the best fit.

Who is NOT a good candidate for brow tattooing?

Avoid cosmetic tattooing / microblading if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have uncontrolled diabetes
  • Are prone to keloid scarring
  • Take blood thinners
  • Have active eczema or psoriasis in the brow area
  • Are undergoing chemotherapy or have a compromised immune system
Who Should Avoid Camouflage & Colour Correction?

This treatment isn’t suitable for everyone. You may want to consider laser removal or wait before booking if:

  • ❌ Your existing brow tattoo is very dark or heavily saturated, lightening with laser removal first will give better results.
  • ❌ You have scar tissue in the area, results can be unpredictable.
  • ❌ Your brows are still healing from a recent tattoo, you’ll need to wait until they’re fully healed before correction.
What is your cancellation policy?

I completely understand that things come up! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice so I can offer your spot to another client.

Deposits are non-refundable unless the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your appointment, or missed appointments, will result in a forfeited deposit.

Thank you for understanding, this policy helps keep my schedule running smoothly and ensures availability for all clients. 💛

More brow questions

How do I book an appointment with Brows by Cher?

You can start with an online request, or contact me directly to book. I confirm your brow goals, your skin type, and your location in Calgary, then we choose a date and time. A $150 non-refundable booking deposit secures your spot and is applied to your total on the day of your brow appointment.

Do I need a consultation before my brow appointment?

A phone consultation is part of every booking. I review your brow history, any previous tattooing, and your health background to confirm you are a good candidate. If your brows are complex, or you are unsure which service is right for you, we can schedule a video call so I can see your brows before the mobile visit.

What is your booking deposit and why is it non-refundable?

The booking deposit is $150. It secures your appointment time, covers part of the preparation, and is included in your final total. Because I reserve that time for you and travel across Calgary, the deposit is non-refundable if you cancel or do not show up. If you need to reschedule, contact me as early as possible so I can work with you.

How far in advance should I book my brows in Calgary?

I recommend booking as early as you can, especially if you want a specific date or time. If you have an event, it is best to plan your brow appointment with enough time for initial healing and your touch-up. I do sometimes have short-notice openings, but they are not guaranteed.

How do mobile brow appointments work in Calgary?

Brows by Cher is fully mobile in Calgary. After your phone consult, we agree on the location: a private space, or sometimes a partnered salon or spa. On the day, I bring the full setup to you: bed or chair, lighting, sterile tools, pigments, and disposable covers. The room becomes a private brow studio for the appointment.

Is there an extra fee for mobile brow services?

Yes. There is a mobile surcharge added to your brow service. For appointments within Calgary, the mobile fee is $150. For locations outside Calgary, the mobile fee is $250, distance-based. This covers travel time, packing and set-up, and the single-use supplies needed to work safely in a mobile setting.

What kind of space do you need in my home?

A clear area large enough for a treatment bed or recliner and room for me to move around your head. Good lighting helps, but I also bring my own professional light. A spare room, a quiet corner, or a private room at a partner salon can all work. The space should be clean, smoke-free, and away from pets and distractions so you can relax.

Do you offer brow services at salons or spas in Calgary?

Yes. I host pop-ups at select salons and spas in Calgary where you can book your brows in a studio setting. These pop-ups are ideal if a private appointment is not suitable or you prefer a salon environment. The current locations and dates will be listed on the mobile and pop-up pages, or you can ask during your consultation.

What is the difference between microblading, powder ombré, and combination brows?

Microblading uses fine, hair-like strokes for a fluffy, natural look. Powder ombré creates a soft, shaded finish that looks like a filled-in brow with a gentle front fade. Combination brows blend both techniques: hair strokes where you want definition, with powder shading for fullness. During your consult, I guide you toward the style that suits your brows, skin, and lifestyle.

How do I know which brow style is right for me?

You do not need to decide alone. I look at your brow pattern, skin type, and how you currently wear your brows. For example, microblading suits those with some natural hair and normal to dry skin. Powder ombré is ideal if you love a makeup look or have oily or sensitive skin. Combination brows work well when you want both crisp strokes and structured shape.

Do you offer brow tattoo correction and camouflage?

Yes. Eyebrow correction and camouflage is one of my signature services. I work on old, faded, discoloured, or uneven brow tattoos to neutralize unwanted tones and reshape the brows where possible. I always assess previous work carefully, including colour and saturation, to decide whether correction, camouflage, or referral to removal is the safest next step.

Can you remove old brow tattoos?

I do not perform in-house laser or saline removal. If your existing brow tattoo is too dark, too saturated, or in the wrong place for safe correction, I will refer you to trusted removal providers in Calgary first. Once the old work has lightened enough, we can plan new brows together.

Who is a good candidate for eyebrow microblading or powder brows?

Most people with sparse, uneven, or light brows can be good candidates. Ideal candidates are in good general health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and free from active skin conditions in the brow area. During your consult, I ask about medications, allergies, and past brow procedures to make sure microblading or powder ombré brows are safe for you.

Are there people who should avoid cosmetic brow tattooing?

Yes. You should avoid brow tattooing if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, undergoing chemotherapy, have active eczema or psoriasis in the brow area, or have a history of keloid scarring. Certain medications or blood-thinning treatments can also affect candidacy. I review this with you one-on-one and may request medical clearance before booking in Calgary.

How safe are your brow treatments and tools?

Safety is not optional. I am a licensed cosmetic tattoo specialist, four-time certified with training in bloodborne pathogens and Barbicide COVID-19 safety. All needles and cartridges are single-use and opened in front of you. Surfaces are covered with disposable barriers, and everything that touches your skin is either sterile and single-use or thoroughly disinfected between clients.

Do you follow health regulations in Calgary?

Yes. I follow Alberta personal service regulations for cosmetic tattooing and infection control. That includes proper hand hygiene, glove use, sharps disposal, and cleaning protocols adapted for mobile settings. Your health and safety guide every step, from consultation through aftercare.

What happens during a typical brow appointment?

Your appointment starts with a detailed consultation and brow mapping. I measure, draw, and adjust the outline until you love the shape. Once we both agree, I numb the area, then begin microblading or shading. Throughout, I check in on how you feel and show you the progress. At the end, we review aftercare and book your touch-up.

How long does a brow appointment take?

Appointments are unhurried so there is time for consultation, design, numbing, and the brow work itself. Correction or camouflage sessions can take longer because of the extra detail involved. I confirm the timing for your specific service when we book so you know how much of your day to set aside.

Does eyebrow microblading or powder ombré hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching or pressure. A topical numbing cream is applied before we start and can be reapplied during the appointment as needed. You may feel more tender in certain areas, like the front or tail of the brow, but the feeling is usually very tolerable.

Will I see my brow shape before you start tattooing?

Always. I never start tattooing until you have seen and approved the brow outline. I map your brows with measurements, draw the shape with pencil, and adjust based on your feedback. Only when you feel confident with the symmetry, length, and fullness do I begin microblading or shading.

What is the healing process like after brow tattooing?

Healing happens in stages. First, your brows look bolder and darker, then they can flake or peel as the top layer of skin heals. Colour may look lighter or patchy for a short time before it settles. I give you a full aftercare guide so you know what to expect as your brows progress.

How should I care for my brows after the appointment?

You receive a step-by-step aftercare booklet from Brows by Cher. In general, you keep the area clean and dry, avoid heavy sweating and makeup on the brows, and do not pick at any flaking. I explain how to cleanse gently, when to apply healing ointment if needed, and what to avoid during the first days of healing in Calgary.

When do I need a touch-up, and is it included?

A touch-up in the early months is an essential part of the process. It lets me perfect the shape, adjust colour, and fill any areas that healed lighter. Touch-ups are booked as separate services, with set pricing for the 6-week perfecting session and the 3-month refresh. We discuss the right timing for you and schedule it before I leave your mobile appointment.

How long will my brows last before I need a colour boost?

Results soften gradually over time. How long your brows hold depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and the technique used. Oily skin, frequent sun exposure, and active skincare can cause pigment to fade faster. During your consultation, I explain what is realistic for you and how to maintain fresh, defined brows.

How much do your brow services cost?

Current pricing is listed on the dedicated pricing page, including microblading, powder ombré, combination brows, correction and camouflage, and touch-ups. Those costs are for the service itself. Remember that mobile appointments in Calgary have an additional fee, which we confirm during your booking call so there are no surprises.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment is made by e-transfer or cash. The $150 deposit is collected in advance to confirm your appointment. The remaining balance, including the mobile fee, is due on the day of your brow session once we finish. I outline the total clearly so you know exactly what you will pay.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Because each mobile brow appointment in Calgary blocks off several hours for travel, set-up, and treatment, I run on a firm cancellation policy. The $150 deposit is non-refundable if you cancel or do not attend. If you need to reschedule, contact me as soon as possible; short-notice changes may require a new deposit.

Is the mobile fee refundable if I cancel?

No. The mobile fee is part of your overall service planning and reflects the time and cost to prepare for travel. If you cancel within the prohibited window, the deposit is forfeited. I always aim to be fair, but I also protect the time set aside for your appointment. Clear communication helps both of us.

Will my brows look natural or like obvious makeup?

That depends on the style you choose, and we talk about this before I start. Microblading can look very soft and hair-like. Powder ombré gives more of a filled-in brow effect with a gentle front fade. Combination brows sit in between. My goal at Brows by Cher is always brow power that suits your face and looks effortless in daylight.

What if I am nervous about going too dark or too bold?

You are in control of the final look. I always start with a tone and intensity that respect your skin, hair, and comfort level. We can build depth and drama at your touch-up if you decide you want more. It is easier to add than to remove, so I lean on my colour training and listen to your feedback at every step.

Can you correct brows that healed too warm, cool, or grey?

Yes, within safe limits. With my BioTouch Canada and colour correction training, I work with pigment theory to neutralize unwanted tones and restore balance. For very heavy or saturated old work, I may still suggest removal first. The goal is not just “better” brows, but brows that age well on your skin.

What if I have had a bad brow experience elsewhere?

You are not alone. I see many clients in Calgary with uneven, harsh, or mismatched brows from past work. The first step is a clear, honest assessment of what can be corrected, what must fade, and what is realistic. Sometimes we need patience and staged work. My job is to guide you with transparency, not promises I cannot keep.
