How do I prepare for my appointment?

72 hours prior to your appointment, it is recommended to not consume any blood thinners such as Advil, Vitamin E, Ibuprofen Alcohol or Caffeine; including coffee and tea, as this will prevent heavy bleeding during your session. The less you bleed the better your results will be.

No electrolysis for at least 5 days before the procedure, and please wait two weeks before and after your microblading session to have any BOTOX, tanning, waxing, or tinting done. Avoid using exfoliants around the brow area and do use a mild face cleanser, I recommend face cleanser sheets around the brow area during the healing period.

KINDLY NOTE: If you are 65 and older your skin type may not be compatible with cosmetic tattoo services due to aging skin. If you cannot lie flat on your back and tilt your head from side to side this treatment is not for you and it’s your responsibility to communicate this during the phone consultation.

What is Microblading and Nano Brows?

Microblading and Nano Brows will create a more natural looking eyebrow. This is the best way to start your eyebrow journey if you are wanting your eyebrows to look natural. Tiny cuts are administered into the dermis layer of the skin to simulate hairs then pigment is deposited into the tiny cuts, this is done by a handheld blade with sterile needles giving the illusion of 3D eyebrow hairs. Microblading produces a finer line than a tattoo machine, leaving a more natural hair like appearance. I use the best Microblades and Nano blades on the market today by Tina Davies Professional all made in Canada.

What is Powder Ombre?

Powder Ombre is another form of cosmetic tattoo, this technique is administered by a tattoo machine and provides a fuller more penciled-in eyebrow look which appears lighter in the front or “head”area and provides darker definition on the arch and tail. This procedure works well for clients with oilier skin and who are looking to achieve results that resembles makeup.

What is Camouflage and Color Correction?

Camouflage is a technique used to cover up old faded tattoos with a skin tone-like finish camouflaging the area by hiding the old tattoo. This technique can only be administered by machine and requires a consultation. Depending on the severity of the old tattoo, in some cases laser tattoo removal may be required before camouflaging can be administered.

When cosmetic tattoos end up with a less than desirable color, color correction offers a solution to neutralize the tattoo and correct the color. Red tends to be the color that will stay in the skin the longest, in other cases orange, pink-purple or blue can result from the body retaining these tones the longest. During your consultation I will custom mix a color based on your root and brow hair color and skin tone to correct the old tattoo and provide you with a natural looking eyebrow.

Does it hurt?

Before the treatment begins, a topical numbing cream (Zensa) is applied to the area to minimize the discomfort, followed by multiple liquid anesthetic. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort but it is relatively painless.

Is Microblading Permanent?

Microblading is semi-permanent and does require maintenance. During the procedure small cuts are made into the dermis layer of the skin to resemble eyebrow hair, pigment is then deposited. Depending on skin conditions and including other external factors the pigment may last from 1-2 years. Individuals, who spend a lot of time in the sun, sweat a lot, have excessive oiling or sebum, have abrasive facial treatments such as chemical peelings, will have pigment disappear faster than individuals who do not. Following aftercare instruction properly is crucial, and will yield the best possible result with the best pigment retention.

Can I bring a friend to my session?

No. Another person in the room can be very distracting for us and I want to ensure you leave with the best results possible. You can, however, have someone drop you off and pick you up if you wish.

What happens if I don't follow the aftercare Instructions?

Unlike working out, microblading has no cheat days! The first week of healing is crucial to your overall results and longevity of your new brows, it is HIGHLY recommended you eat a lot of protein and drink/take Vitamin C to help accelerate the healing time! If you do not follow aftercare instructions, you not only put yourself at risk for infection, but also risk loosing your new brows. Scratching, rubbing or exfoliating your new brows before they are completely healed will pull out the pigment (color). This will result in patchy brows or worse. Working out while your brows are healing, especially if you have oily skin, is also a big no no, as sweating will push the pigment out.

Who should not get Microblading?

You should NOT get microblading done if you are pregnant, nursing, have a history of keloids / hypertrophic scarring, diabetic (require clearance from your family doctor), chemotherapy, viral infections / diseases, epilepsy, pacemaker or major heart problems, or illness that compromises the immune system. People who are on Accutane. (The medications place you at risk for hypersensitivity, scarring and hyperpigmentation. Your skin needs 12 months to normalize prior to a tattoo)

Are Touch-ups even necessary?

Yes!! They are 100% necessary. If you want to protect your investment and achieve the best results, a commitment to regular touch ups is crucial. After your initial session your eyebrows may fade by up to 30% which means they will become lighter and you may loose some symmetry. Touch-up sessions will even out your 3D brows and fill in any parts that may have lightened in the healing process. I recommend yearly touch-ups to keep your 3D brows on point!
